Because vacations in South Corsica, in the Porto Vecchio region, are not limited to swimming on one of the region's beaches, discover here the famous Cavu natural pools, just a few dozen minutes from Lecci.
Cavu Valley swimming pools
The Cavu is a river located in Corse-du-Sud, in the Porto Vecchio region. Rising in the Bavella massif, it flows down the eastern slopes of the Corsican mountains, ending its course in the commune of Sainte Lucie de Porto Vecchio.
The upper part of the Cavu is steep-sided and inaccessible, but it then enters a wider valley carved out of the granite, offering exceptional bathing basins.
These natural pools, carved out by the flow of the river over thousands of years, make for long days of swimming, between lazing in the sun on the rocky slabs and plunging into the crystal-clear waters of a remarkable emerald green.
While the water temperature is quite cool in spring, it becomes very pleasant in midsummer through to autumn. In spring, the Cavu's pools are quieter, ideal for relaxing (without swimming) or for hiking, via the network of signposted paths that can be found throughout the region.
The price of success: in August, the most famous pools and waterholes are very popular with families and lovers of invigorating swims.
What to do in Cavu
The Cavu is not used for canyoning in Porto Vecchio, unlike the rivers further north, which are a paradise for thrill-seekers.
Summer bathing is therefore the main attraction. Bathing in the crystal-clear waters of Corsica's rivers brings a totally different sense of well-being to salty sea bathing. The natural pools are ideal for swimming, diving (but be careful!) and playing in the small waterfalls between the pools.
People also come here to enjoy the adventure park and its tree climbing.
And of course, if you want to spend a whole day on site, there are restaurants open all season long.
How do I get to the Cavu swimming pools?
From the Caranella estate, head north on the T10 territorial road.
When you reach Sainte Lucie de Porto Vecchio, turn left at the traffic lights, following the D168A departmental road towards Tagliu Rossu (Conca).
You'll soon be skirting the river (on your right) and discovering the various activities available on site.
Where to park for swimming in the Cavu pools?
Once you've arrived, the question of parking may arise. If you left yourhotel in Porto Vecchio"early", you'll find it easy to park.
If you choose to use the parking lots of the establishments on site, such as the 3 piscines restaurant or the A Tyroliana adventure park, don't forget to take advantage of the services offered by these companies.
