Porto Vecchio and the far south of Corsica

The Porto Vecchio region

Domaine de Caranella is located in the commune of Lecci de Porto Vecchio, in the northern Gulf of Porto Vecchio.
Less than 400 m from the famous Cala Rossa beach, between Benedettu and Saint Cyprien, our establishment is ideal for a true seaside holiday.

But there's much more to the Porto Vecchio region! There's so much to discover that you'll probably need several stays to see it all.
To help you plan your sightseeing during your nights in Caranella, here's some information and suggestions.

The town of Porto Vecchio

Also known as the City of Salt (in reference to the salt marshes, still visible today) Porto Vecchio is today a major tourist destination in the Mediterranean.
Less than a 15-minute drive from the hotel, this beautiful seaside resort is the perfect place to shop, relax and discover.

Porto Vecchio's beaches

The beaches on the north shore of the Gulf of Porto Vecchio can be reached in just a few minutes from the hotel.
Cala Rossa beach is easily reached on foot.
The Porto Vecchio region is also famous for its southern beaches, whose names conjure up images of crystal-clear water, red rocks and pine trees (almost) falling into the sea. The beaches of Santa Giulia and Palombaggia are just 30 minutes from the hotel (by car).

Cavu natural pools

River swimming in the cavu's natural pools

The Porto Vecchio region is of course famous for its beaches, but more and more of you are enjoying river bathing. The Lecci and Sainte Lucie de Porto Vecchio region boasts one of the most beautiful areas, with the natural pools of the Cavu.
From the Caranella estate, you can reach this succession of emeuraude-green pools and beautiful granite beaches in less than 30 minutes by car, for a totally different kind of vacation in Southern Corsica!

The needles of Bavella

Corsica is a mountain in the sea. Rarely has an expression been more apt to describe Corsica. From the seaside estate of Caranella, the highest peaks of southern Corsica seem so close. In fact, it would be a shame not to spend a few hours in the Bavella massif, at the foot of the peaks. Here you can cross the famous GR 20, discover the fabulous canyoning routes at Bavella and enjoy the island's rural cuisine in the various inns.

The far south of Corsica and Bonifacio

Choosing Lecci de Porto Vecchio as your vacation destination will also allow you to devote at least one day to discovering the far south of Corsica and the city of Bonifacio.
The citadel perched on the high cliffs and overlooking the gully will encourage you to visit the "upper town".
But Bonifacio is best explored from the sea, to enjoy the spectacle of the high limestone cliffs facing Sardinia.
This will also be an opportunity to visit the Lavezzi islands and enjoy water sports at Piantarella.
